One of the essential features I’d like to offer to my customers is for them to be able to maintain their own public wish lists of the products in the table, along with similar private lists (maybe a future shopping list for example).
So, there could be a template for first creating a wishlist (public) or a list of favorites/bookmarks (private). Let’s call the lists personal tables here.
Users could for example tick a check box next to any row in the main table, or use some better method of selecting if you can come up with one, then click a button “Add to personal table” to add selected row(s) there.
Actually, I think allowing us to place that button on the master-detail pages would be perfectly enough.
On the technical side of things, the entries in a personal table would be only references to rows in the main table.
There should be the functionality for viewing the items in the personal table (as direct links to master-detail pages) and of course also removing items besides adding new ones.
It would be even better if there could be a possibility to arrange the order of the entries and maybe also have a small field for notes next to every entry.
And almost forgot this:
There should also be an admin setting which determines the columns included by default in the name (editable when saving) for the entry to be saved, so the users can easily set meaningful names for them.

Agreed. There is another suggestion called “favorites” with this same request.

In many use cases, like for example my collectibles database, the ability to have public wishlists (and possibly also private shopping lists) would result in significantly more registered users.
Hopefully you consider putting this feature on the roadmap in the near future, it’s certainly high on my personal wishlist..!
And yes, feel free to merge this one with the #161 suggestion, although I guess the votes are gone then but that already has more anyway.
