improve the default editing modal (allow adding instructions etc)#461

Despite having many awesome features and overall good user experience, I think one key aspect of the product is still running severely behind.
And that’s the default editing modal.

In my use case we have a number of volunteer editors, many of them editing just occasionally, and needing some instructions and tips on adding and editing the values. Both for encouraging editing and keeping the data consistent.
As I see it, currently the only way to provide any custom instructions for the editor users is to have a completely separate documentation located somewhere.
Trying to name the columns intuitively is just not enough at all sometimes. In master detail templates though, the things are easy to group into different sections as needed, so it’s always clear what the value in question is about when just viewing and not editing.

So, what I would very much like to see in the future, is a possibility to add some custom instructions or tooltips directly to the editing modal. It would help significantly just having a possibility to add a link (or links) to a separate documentation, which could be an another WordPress page.
The best place is directly in the modal where the editing happens, because in practice it’s difficult to get people to read instructions if they are placed somewhere else and there is no link in sight the moment they need it.

Also one idea, if possible somehow, would be for example to integrate with some (preferably free) form plugin so that the editing modal could be customized much like the master detail page. I see there are some form integrations available, but apparently they have several major limitations, so probably that is not going to be the solution.

I guess it also should be said that the inline editing option is a very nice feature to have, but unfortunately it does not help at all in my use case, where most of the column data (30+ columns) is set up to show only on master detail page anyway.
So I think the only way to make the editing experience better for the editors is to improve the default editing modal.

I’m wondering if IvyForms will be the solution to these concerns, or not… can it be used to enhance or replace the overly basic default editing modal experience. I guess we have to wait, but I’m afraid competitors will soon overtake from left and right with their app-like data entry & editing solutions, customizable in appearance etc.
